Summary0006834: MUSCLE alignment can't find temporary file.
DescriptionCan't perform MUSCLE alignments, due to the inability of MEGA to open a temporary file.
Steps To ReproduceUse supplied input .fas file, (unzip first), Open file, select Align, Align with MUSCLE, chose DNA, use default setting. See attached screen shot for error message.

Hi Matthew,

I am writing in response to the bug report you recently submitted regarding the MEGA software. Thank you for the feedback. The alignment process failed with your data due to an "out of memory" error. This happened because MEGA is using a 32-bit version of MUSCLE which cannot allocate sufficient memory for the alignment. A workaround is to download and use a more current version of MUSCLE - it can be downloaded at https://drive5.com/muscle/. [^] Alternatively, you could use MAFFT which is suitable for larger alignments.

In the future we may upgrade to newer MUSCLE.
