Description | Hi, When I try to download MEGA 12, I get an error message saying that the installer can't be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software. I also have an additional question. If I use gene order as data for phylogenetic analysis, can MEGA accommodate multigene inversions? Thanks, Andrew. | ||||||||||||

Hi Andrew, I am writing in response to the bug report you recently submitted regarding the MEGA software. The download for MEGA12 has been updated and should work without errors now. Regarding your question about using gene order data, MEGA does not support the direct use of gene order data or multigene inversions as input for phylogenetic analysis. MEGA's functionality is focused on aligned DNA or protein sequences, and while it provides tools for multigene and domain-based sequence analysis, these are based on sequence similarity rather than gene order or structural rearrangements like inversions. Best regards, Glen Stecher |
